Watch Equus on CBC’s Nature of Things starting Sept. 23

Tune in at 8pm on CBC to view Equus: Story of the Horse beginning September 23rd to watch part 1 of the 3 part series. An epic journey into the fascinating and unexpected world of horses, with anthropologist Niobe Thompson. Creative Fields provided the fossil animation, final character build, animation and visual effects of the ancient 47 million year old Eurohippus seen in episode 1 that leads the series. A special advance screening of Equus is on September 17 at the Winspear Theatre in Edmonton. Tickets are available online.

Creative Fields is honoured to be working on a significant project with Niobe Thompson of Handful of Films for CBC’s The Nature of Things Equus: Story of the Horse — Origins. Working with model data first constructed by a team of German scientists and animators, Creative Fields is adding the cinematic animation and visual effects to bring to life the 47 million year old ancestor to the modern horse, the Eurohippus. Production began last year with post continuing into 2018 with very exciting results. Stayed tuned in the fall of 2018 to CBC’s the Nature of Things to watch this fascinating 3 part series.

Installation Animation Product Video for Euroshield®

In the Summer and Fall of 2015, Creative Fields was pleased to work with a local Calgary success story, Gem Euroshield, maker of environmentally friendly roofing products made from recycled tires. This installation animation video aids viewers in the proper installation of EuroLite Slate roofing product. Three different product versions were made in total including EuroLite Shake and Euroslate. The resulting animations were basic in the stylistic approach provide viewers with a no non-sense understanding in the fundamental steps required to properly ensure the correct installation of the roofing material. GEM Euroshield was very pleased with the end results of this extensive project, and it shows their commitment in customer satisfaction. Even though the company had very detailed online installation manuals illustrating the correct installation procedures, having a product-line of installation videos embedded on their website would directly benefit the installers and purchasers of the product.  In utilizing animation the project could be updated if need be in the future with any product updates without having to commit time and time again the expense of re-shooting the process in hiring a video production crew.

DDG Ampia Win for TEDxYYC Promo

April 14, 2014 – Congrats to Chris Krieger of DDG and to the rest of the hard working folks at DDG, Wax, Derek Heisler and Redemption Audio on the TEDxYYC 2013 Promo for the Ampia Award win over the weekend. Creative Fields was glad to take part in the making of this video with by adding compositing and titles. This was a great project to work on, seeing it start from the shooting stage to the completion and final event presentation at the Epcor Centre in Calgary in 2013. It is a terrific example of how smaller companies can work together to achieve excellence in the video production industry.

TU-95 Tupolev Soviet Bomber. Referred to NATO as The Bear. At over 150 feet in length, this four-engine turboprop-powered strategic bomber and missile platform was first flown in 1952. It entered service with the Soviet Union in 1956 and quickly became an icon of the Cold War threat to North America.

In 1997 Greg Marshall had completed a half- hour video documentary called Tracking Distance. Set upon the remnants of Canadian Forces Station (C.F.S.) Dana, a NORAD Pinetree Line radar station, which operated from 1962 – 1986, it examined some of Canada’s role during the Cold War. With over 200 service personnel and their families present at the site it officially closed August 30, 1987. In 25 years of operation, countless military families and personnel were connected with the station. The video explores what remains and what people thought of Cold War situation during its operation. It is based on interviews with a variety of individuals, each with a personal connection to the closed radar station. Last broadcast on SCN TV 2004,  after a 5 year broadcast license, it originally debuted at 1998 Yorkton Film Festival. Production was made possible through a co-production with The Banff Centre for the Arts, EM Media, with financial assistance of the Alberta Heritage Trust Fund and the NFB. Pinnacle Mediation Logo Rebrand

Creative Fields recently completed a logo rebrand project with Pinnacle Mediation of Calgary. After consulting with the client, she expressed some ideas that she wanted to follow, one of which being a Celtic Knot design. Another aspect she wanted to highlight in the redesign is that there are three elements in mediation, the two sides trying to meet in agreement and then a mediator that tries to resolve the issues between the two. Taking these into consideration, a number of prototypes where constructed, along with some completely different off-the-wall variations as well.

Using a Venn diagram approach, the logo began to take further form. Two concentric circles were combined within the three conjoined circles meant to signify the process of mediation.

The logo was beginning to take hold, with the inclusion of a Celtic Knot.

In order to get away from the appearance of a face in the inner area of the logo, the last change came about to resolve the logo in its final form to which the client was very happy with. The next phase for the brand now that print letterhead has also been produced will be to redesign Pinnacle Mediation’s website.

Gord Bamford wins big at Canada’s country music awards

It was great to take part in this important event for Canadian Country music. Sticking to a pre-existing layout from CBC, working with Corkscrew Media in Calgary, I was happy to be working on putting together the broadcast graphics for this live event. Most of the creative work came in the form of the roll call which added photos of each of the artists this year.

Gord Bamford really cleaned up that night, with 5 awards to his credits.
